Autobiography of the Reverend Daniel Chapman (1806-1890; Photocopy), abolitionist affiliated with the American Missionary Association. The autobiography describes Chapman's childhood, schooldays, typescript, student days at Oberlin, Civil War service, and career as a teacher in Shelby County, Ohio. His work as a minister and lecturer is also discussed in the item. The subjects of his lectures were temperance and slavery. He was an abolitionist and maintained an affiliation with the American Missionary Association, which can be documented in more than fifty letters included in the archives of the organization. Also items pertaining to the Reverend William Kincaid and the settlement of Oklahoma (including a map of Guthrie, Okla., with with sub-title "Indian Territory", 1899) includes information regarding the sale of Cherokee lands between the Kansas/Oklahoma border (in the land known as the Cherokee Outlet or "Cherokee Strip"), and specifics about the growth of the town of Guthrie (building, churches, trade, etc).
